Panic buttons and 360° Ceiling Detectors

The Gunsmith

Homeguard Security was asked to design a Grade 4 insurance approved system to safeguard both the stock and staff at an armoury. One of the chief concerns was to ensure that the staff can activate panic buttons manually, even during working hours when the core alarm system would be switched off.

Homeguard created panic buttons located around the office and workshop so that silent activation will bring police response at any time of day or night. In addition there are 360-degree ceiling detectors, panic buttons and movement detectors in the Safe Store, as an additional layer of security integrated into the wider security system.
LightSYS+ Alarm Panel with Motion Detection and CCTV

The Collectibles Warehouse

We have been the long-term security partner for a business trading globally in unique memorabilia. We have evolved, adapted and expanded the security design as the business has grown into an international concern. At the heart of the system is the LightSYS+ alarm panel, a hybrid wireless + wired system which allows us to integrate and update system quickly and easily. The panel allows us to connect up to 128 detectors, meaning we can protect windows, doors, rooms and outbuildings and garages in the most effective, flexible way possible.

Due to the size of some of these rare items, security in the several outbuildings is at least as important as protection for the main office. There are large area of racking and shelving that require floor to ceiling coverage with motion detection and CCTV and all buildings have smoke and hazard detectors integrated into the system, as many items are irreplacable and damage from smoke, heat or water would be disastrous.
Shockguard Detectors

The Church Roof

One of our most interesting challenges was to protect the lead roof of a 1000-year-old Norman church. Churches have long been targeted by thieves aiming to harvest the lead from the roof and so we designed a system that could detect human intrusion on roofs and sides of the building, whilst avoiding false alarms from even large birds like red kites. As the church is manned at different times by different volunteers, the detectors can be set with a keypad in the vestry. Should anyone forget to do so, the roof security is enhanced with Shockgard radio shock detectors located internally and invisibly on the ancient roof timbers frame. Able to differentiate between natural vibrations (say from squirrels, glis glis or large birds) and those that only occur during illegal entry to the roof, these front-line devices are unobtrusive and pick up vibrations, even if the system has not been turned on. We needed to calibrate the radio signal to penetrate the church walls, which in some cases are 18inches thick.
